Physical Education Lesson Plan:
Fitness Disc Golf
Grades 9-12

Focus of Lesson: Fitness Disc Golf
Fitness Disc Golf is a fun fitness game aimed to improve the student’s cardio respiratory fitness and their enjoyment of exercising.

Duration: 30 minutes – 45 minutes

Objectives: Each student will throw a Frisbee and be able to maintain heart rate and number of steps taken from appropriate equipment. They will also be able to complete course and individual activities within course.

Materials needed: Heart rate monitors/pedometers, music (optional), cones, Frisbees for each student, or ball, whistle

Technology use: The children will be shown and understand how to use a heart rate monitor and a pedometer to see how fast their hearts are beating and how many steps they took during the activity.

Activity: Teacher will blow whistle signaling to the children that is it time to begin. Each student selected to go will then throw Frisbee/ball toward the closest cone. Once Frisbee has landed they must run to the cone and read the instructions. There will be a small physical fitness challenge at each cone such as, push ups. Once they have made it through all strategically placed cones they are finished. The student that makes it through first wins. After the race, the children will check their heart rate/ number of steps they took to get to the final cone/ activity. They will then record what they scored on a worksheet. The worksheet will visibly show the student how many steps or how fast their heart was beating and it will give them something to work on in the trials to come.
Assessment: I will asses the children by walking around and monitoring their use of the pedometers and heart rate monitors. I will have the children record their times through the course and see how well they performed overall. Although, the overall outcome will not the final assessment

week 7

How far should educators go in matching the technology used in instruction and classroom activities to the technology their students use?

I think they should have students use technology but they should not go out of the scope of their students ability/learning abilities

Are online chats and instant messaging of value in the classroom?
yes, they are very valuable. I think it helps the children learn about technology and helps them communicate with other kids.

Do they add to student learning, or do they distract from “real” instruction?

no this is a form of communication and it gets the students involved in the lesson.

Does using podcasts with students really enhance learning, or is it simply a newer version of passively delivering information?

this is a new and improved way to deliver info, especially if there is music and other sounds included in the pod cast.
Does videogame help develop your studying? Why or why not?
if the game gets too side tracked it would not help but if it stayed on course with the lesson it would be a wonderful idea.

Week 6 blooooooooooog!!!!!!!

Paragraph 1:
- Please tell me how thing went and how you felt about the activities. Please feel free to give suggestions.
- How did you feel about creating a brochure this week and a worksheet from last week? Were they different?
- Is there any muddy point that you need to review?
Pareagraph 2:
How do you feel about Desktop Publishing? We have created a brochure and a resume. What else do you think we can do with Desktop Publishing? If you have to create one thing for your classroom, what would you create by using Publishing and why?

Paragragh 1 :

I think that these activities were good for me because they reminded me how to do some of the things that I had done in the past. I think that we should have been asked to do a little more with publisher. I would have liked to do another project that was something different. The worksheet was tricky for me but the brochure was fun. I liked both of them though. The only thing that i can think that I need to do is to review powerpoints . I need to remember so that I can use them in my classroom......THIS UPCOMING YEAR!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

pARAGRAGH 2 : I would definately make a brochure, I plan on making them for my softball parents meeting so they can have some information on my background as a teacher , coach , and player. I think it will help smooth over my entrance as a new coach. I really like desktop publishing. I have always liked it, you can do many things with it. Such as, brochures, resumes, flyers, letterheads.

inspiration!!!

I like the inspiration website. It was nice. I like the inspiradata. I liked that you could make charts. I could use that in my classroom as well. I could have the children make charts on weight loss or something.

I could have the kids post on how their weight loss is going. and have others comment on it. I could have the kids comment on eachothers posts.

I'm outta here! :]

My name is Jennifer Kenner and I am 23 years old. I am from Greenville, TX. My parents are still married. Their names are Kathy and Kevin Kenner. They have been married for 27 years now. I also have a little sister named Ashley. She is a student at Texas A&M University Commerce and is supposed to graduate in 2010.I have a dog named P-Nutt and he is 7 years old. My mom has a dog and her name is Zoey. We include them in our family at all times. I am supposed to graduate this May with a degree in Kinesiology and I have been on a mission to find a job ever since I heard this wonderful news! I come from a long line of teachers. Almost everyone in my family is a teacher. I started playing softball when I was 9 years old and it is now my passion and the reason I want to coach. I hope this helped you to get to know me! :]

What do you think about using blogs?
I think that blogging is an excellent way to communicate with people anywhere! I think that it is an outlet for people to express themselves and in sometimes in a way they couldn't anywhere else.

What and how do you think blogs would be useful for education?
I think you can use blogs in many ways. One way, could be like this; to get to know your students and to help the student understand how to make a blog. You could also have like an online weekly journal for them to fill out about assignments and so on. it teaches the student technology and how to communicate better and more frequently.

Some people think using blogs in classrooms is a waste of students’ time. How would you respond?

Nope, they sure aren't. I think that it is a way for students to share thoughts and ideas about subjects and a way to communicate not only with eachother but with the teacher as well.

What are some ways that you could use the technology ideas in Chapter 6 to support your curriculum and student learners?

I could have the students look up a subject on the internet, study it, and then make a powerpoint show, email it to me, and then i could approve or disapprove and send it back. this incorporates email -> communication, research -> learning, and a project -> showing the teacher what you learned. its perfect! :]
